At EquipKids, we offer more than a job. We’ve built a full-circle, therapist-designed pathway to guide new graduates into paediatric practice—with the resources, supervision, and heart you need to truly thrive.

Step-by-step clinical training modules

Guided reflection points and case-based learning

Built-in time for shadowing and gradual caseload build-up

Tapered Client Workload for Confidence and Success

We gradually increase your clinical responsibilities so you can build confidence without pressure:

Weeks 1: Learning, observation, no face-to-face clients

Weeks 2–4: Start with 1–3 clients per day

Weeks 5–6: Increase to 3–4 clients per day

Weeks 7–10: Move toward a stable, manageable caseload

This supportive structure ensures you grow steadily into independent clinical work while still surrounded by guidance.

Program Timeline

📝 Get To Know You Phase – Lets Chat Not Sweat!

Once you have submitted your online application, you will be contacted to have an informal chat to see if EquipKids is the right fit for you and to book a formal interview thereafter.  We understand interviews can feel daunting,  so we provide the interview questions ahead of time to help you feel confident and prepared.

📅 Weeks 1: Welcome Aboard: Learn, Watch, Repeat

During your first two weeks, you will:

  • Complete our full clinic induction
  • Observe sessions and routines
  • Get accustomed to our resources and our ways of working
  • Begin shaping your caseload with admin time

There are no billable expectations during this time—just space to settle in.

📈 Weeks 2–12: Training Wheels Off – You’re Getting the Hang of It!

From Week 2, you’ll start seeing clients with structured support:

  • Weeks 2–4: 1-3 clients per day
  • Weeks 5–6: 3 – 4 clients per day
  • Weeks 7–10: Move toward a stable caseload with increasing confidence

Supervision remains weekly, while informal support is always available.

🚀 Week 12 and Beyond: You are Flying Solo – But We’ve Got Your Back!

You’ll manage your caseload and calendar independently, with continued access to:

  • Regular 1:1 weekly and group supervision
  • Internal and external PD opportunities
  • Mentoring to help align your caseload with your career goals

Learning Outcomes

You will explore essential foundations in:

  • Sensory integration
  • Emotional regulation
  • Functional ADLs like toileting, dressing, and feeding
  • Executive functioning and play-based therapy
  • Core OT assessments, NDIS documentation, and admin skills
  • Paediatric handwriting, fine motor, and gross motor development
  • Telehealth, collaboration with families, and working in schools

All content is tailored to EquipKids’ real clinic life and guided by our senior OTs and clinical lead.

Weekly Supervision

We believe frequent connection builds confident clinicians. That is why we offer a thoughtful blend of structured supervision and spontaneous support. Whether it is a scheduled session or a quick hallway huddle, you will always have someone to turn to.

  • 1:1 supervision weekly with your clinical lead
  • Peer check-ins and reflective practice
  • PD calendar
  • Shadowing, joint sessions, and gradual handovers.
